Benefits of liposomal salicylic acid
Salicylic acid has several skin-improving effects – from improving acne problems and softening the stratum corneum to lightening pigment spots and repairing skin damage caused by UV radiation (antiaging). However, many formulations with salicylic acid are low in efficacy, as it is poorly soluble, difficult to penetrate into the skin and, at higher concentrations, dries out the skin.
Liposomal encapsulation in LIPOACTIVE BHA greatly improves its effectiveness! Liposomes (small “fat globules” containing salicylic acid molecules) act as a delivery mechanism to bring this active deeper into your skin – to where it can develop its effect!
By increasing absorption, we have enhanced the effects of salicylic acid while reducing the chances of side effects that can occur at high concentrations. LIPOACTIVE BHA is released from the liposomes in the skin for a longer period of time, prolonging the action of the actives.
Pore-minimizing
Due to encapsulation, LIPOACTIVE BHA penetrates deep into the pores where salicylic absorbs sebum, acts bactericidal and accelerates the clearing of dead skin cells (desquamation) from the surface of the skin or pores. The combination of these three effects helps to keep the pores clean (unblocked), which inhibits the formation of problems arising from pores, such as spots or acne.
Due to its astringent effect, it also visually reduces the size of pores – although the intensity of the effect always depends on the skin.
Antiaging effect
LIPOACTIVE BHA accelerates the clearing of dead keratinocytes (corneocytes) from the skin surface. This makes it easier for other actives to penetrate the skin, resulting in an enhanced antiaging effect (long term) and immediately smoother and softer skin (immediate effect).
Frequently Asked Questions
Is encapsulation necessary as salicylic acid is considered a stable active?
Salicylic acid does not oxidise, as is the problem with e.g. retinal or ascorbic acid (vit. C). Our encapsulation is designed to deliver this active to the right place in your skin. Liposomes are not just a protective layer, they improve the passage of molecules deeper into the skin.
Is a 1% concentration of salicylic acid suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes, liposomal encapsulation greatly reduces the possibility of irritation. Also, the release of salicylic acid is prolonged and acts over a longer period of time, reducing the chances of side effects. If you have very sensitive skin that often reacts, you should, of course, test any product on a smaller area of skin first.
Is it an exfoliant?
No, LIPOACTIVE BHA is not an exfoliant. However, salicylic acid has an exfoliating effect on the corneocytes. These are dead skin cells, part of your skin barrier. Accelerating their shedding from the skin (desquamation) is beneficial because your skin immediately glows, absorption of other actives is increased and the chance of closed pores is reduced. LIPOACTIVE BHA does this in a skin-friendly, long-lasting way, which is different to peels with high acid concentrations.
Do I need to take a break?
No, you can use LIPOACTIVE BHA every day, morning and night.
Does LIPOACTIVE BHA contain 1% salicylic acid or 1% liposomal salicylic acid solution?
It actually contains 1% salicylic acid. There is more liposome solution in the formulation.
Key Ingredients
Salicylic acid (BHA, liposomal encapsulation)
Salicylic acid is indispensable in the care of skin affected by acne outbreaks, pimples or excessive oiliness. It is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA). It effectively cleanses the pores and regulates the production of sebum!
It penetrates deeper into the skin than AHA acids and has a bunch of beneficial effects for your skin: it stimulates the production of collagen, smooths the skin surface, cleanses the skin thoroughly and reduces pimple and acne problems.
The salicylic acid in LIPOACTIVE BHA is encapsulated in liposomes – small fat globules that act as a delivery mechanism, maximising the effect and reducing the chance of side effects.
Combination of B vitamins (Pyridoxine, Niacinamide, Biotin)
Their functions is to inhibit lipogenesis (formation of skin sebum), act as antioxidants (antiaging), help to regenerate the skin, strengthen the skin barrier and counteract skin problems.
Niacinamide (B3) one of the most effective and popular active ingredients in skin care. It has a whole range of effects that make your skin healthier, more youthful, moisturised and resilient. Niacinamide is especially good for problematic skin, as it helps to reduce pimples and acne problems.
Biotin (B7) and pyridoxine (B6) help to moisturise and nourish the skin and can help to resolve skin problems.
Fomes Officinalis mushroom extract
Botanical extracts with proven effects are the trend in modern formulations! It has an astringent effect (pore tightening) and provides hydration.

How To Use
LIPOACTIVE BHA serum can be used every day, morning and night. It is a moisturising serum, so it goes on your skin before oil products and creams.
Combination with other actives
It can be combined with most actives. The combination with azelaic acid (AZELAICA) is great for very oily skin, and the combination with FACE IT, YOU LOVE ME for users with a damaged barrier.
Combinations with AHA acids (e.g. AHA, SO THAT’S THE SECRET!) also work well. First, use AHA acids, then LIPOACTIVE BHA.
We don’t recommend combining with retinal or using LIPOACTIVE BHA in the same routine with retinal or other retinoids.
Skin Types
Suitable for all skin types. However, LIPOACTIVE BHA is especially formulated for problematic, oily or combination skin, skin with enlarged pores or rough, dull skin.
Due to its encapsulation, salicylic acid is well tolerated by sensitive skin. However, we always advise testing on a smaller area of skin first.
